According to WWD, couturier and designer Giambattista Valli will collaborate with Macy's on a line bowing October 26, confirming previous reports.
Valli proceeds Karl Lagerfeld as the latest high-fashion guest designer for Macy's Impulse department, in an aggressive effort to amp up the fashion quotient for the middle-market retailer. Hitting stores just in time for the holiday season, WWD reports that Valli's Macy's line will echo his signature over-the-top decadence with whimsical, embellished party dresses, blouses, jackets and separates.
Macy's chief merchandising officer Jeff Gennette described Valli as "a visionary talent known for extravagant designs. This collection strikes just the right balance between youthfulness and sophistication, speaking directly to our fashion Impulse customer.”
In addition to Valli's debut, Macy's will re-introduce special product from the Impulse designer collaborators, Kinder Aggugini, Matthew WIlliamson and Karl Lagerfeld (whose collection drops this month) for the holiday season. And then comes spring, for which Macy's already has its next guest designers lined up and ready to go.
