Fans of Anthropologie's quirky-chic aesthetic will certainly crush on Leifsdottir's spring collection of shorts, maxi dresses, minis and debut collection of shoes.
Terrariums growing burlap-and-leopard fabric stumps and succulents staged an appropriate setting for Finnish designer Johanna Uurasjarvi's supremely wearable line based on a whole range of prints -- python, juicy Pucci-esque mosaics and painterly, toned-down zebra -- as well as colors, from sunny orange to army green, cream and raspberry pink. Less overtly, texture was carefully tended to, too, in a faintly skin-embossed black pouf miniskirt, tiers of matte-finish paillettes and blocks of sheer silks.
By the time the models had scampered backstage, we'd ticked off a handful of pieces for our spring wardrobes. They say the devil is in the details, and that's really where Leifsdottir shines: from the tiny gold beads hanging from draped ruffles on a silk halter top (styled with python shorts) to a tiny horsebit buckle on a narrow belt.
Of course, this being Anthropologie, the focus is on wearable fashion that has something for everyone, whether you're into orange jumpsuits, beachy cocktail maxi-dresses, or printed about-town rompers. Handbags came structured or slouchy, and the spectacular shoes feature edgy styles like cut-out wedge heel platforms and python-paneled hells and flats.
