Lanvin Wins Top Honor at Global Fashion Awards

Alber Elbaz is on a winning streak this season. Just last week he received the honor of Designer of the Year by the Accessories Council, and once again the creative head for Lanvin earned top honors as the Most Influential Designer at WSGN's World Fashion Awards last night, here in New York.

Beating out an elite set of nominees that included Isabel Marant, Christopher Bailey and Phoebe Philo, Elbaz, who didn't attend the event, has often said that he dismisses the popular notion of the "It-girl" when it comes to Lanvin's enduring design philosophy.

Acne was named Most Influential Design Team, while Most Influential Fashion Label went to People Tree. British department store Harvey Nichols was also a winner, taking home the award for Best Global Retailer, which got us thinking--since that global reach doesn't yet include America, perhaps the recognition will spur some expansion to our shores in the future.

Hats of to Elbaz and the house of Lanvin on the win, and on its continued influence, a significant accolade for the nearly 150-year-old label which has undergone a major revitalization under Elbaz's watch.
