Kenneth Cole's Tweets Now Have to Pass Through “A Filter”

After landing himself in some serious hot water following a tweet relating the chaos in Egypt to the fervor around his brand's latest shoe collection, it seems Kenneth Cole is now banned from tweeting at will.

In early February, Cole tweeted: "Millions are in uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now available online." Needless to say, the backlash was fast and furious, and Cole was quick to apologize for the tweet, the damage was already done.

Even after all the hubbub, however, Cole told Glamour magazine at a preview for his Fall 2011 collection that he still really loves Twitter. "Advertising only happens a few times a year, the ads and the billboards, but Twitter happens all the time."

Alas, he also revealed that he doesn't exactly have unlimited access to tweet his every musing anymore. As he told Glamour: "I have a tendency to put my foot in my mouth," he told me. "Now, my tweets go through a filter!"

Considering the circumstances, we'd say that's a wise move.
