Gossip rag favorite Jessica Simpson may not be the edgiest or even most successful of celebs-turned-designers, but time and again this bombshell proves herself a savvy, if thickly lip-glossed, business woman. Her latest venture, a swimsuit collection with luxury swim brand, Red Carter, is a welcome addition to Simpson's tween-targeted offerings of handbags, shoes, and even plus size bras.
The new line, evocative of Ms.Simpson's char-broiled poolside afternoons on Newlyweds, offers frills and neon leopard aplenty in styles ranging from traditional triangle to strapless bandeau to "sweetheart" top. Though some suits (like a butterfly printed two-piece) verge on pre-teen extreme, we're big fans of the gingham "picnic" bikini with button closure and white eyelet trim. Of course, when styling these suits, accessories should be limited to the Simpsonian Staples: big straw cowboy hat and metalic wedges.
With prices starting at $35 and peaking at $60, expect to see more than a few JS/Red Carter suits on the beach this summer. The capsule collection hits Macy's this week, and will be stocked as long as supplies last.
