JCPenney and Wet Seal Named as Victims in Hacker Case

J.C. Penney and Wet Seal were the latest retailers to be announced as victims of a hacker ring that lifted more than 40 million credit card numbers from 2003 to roughly 2008.

Penney's had been previously identified in court documents as Company A on the grounds that they should remain anonymous (since the hackers did not obtain their customers' information).  Wet Seal also has said their customer data was not exposed, but nonetheless, both retailers have been officially added to the list of hacker targets (and yes, this photo is really from the Wet Seal website).  One of the biggest victims of the operation was TJX Cos. Inc., along with Forever21 and DSW.
