Isaac Mizrahi Launches Bridal

Designer Isaac Mizrahi has long been known for grinning in the face of tradition, and it seems his latest launch will be as unconventional as the man himself. At the end of March, WWD reports, Mizrahi will launch a customized bridal collection for members-only website The Aisle New York. The dresses will be available for a six-month run, and will be priced between $2,000 and $4,500, and available in ready-to-wear sizes from 0-14 as well as made-to-measure.

As Isaac Mizrahi told WWD, “The best place to shop for your wedding gown is the privacy of your own computer." Other retailer seem to agree: Net-a-Porter launched bridal online last year, and Urban's newest venture, BHLDN, will also launch online first before rolling out brick-and-mortar stores later this year.

An initial sketch the designer gave WWD shows a strapless column silhouette with a flared over-skirt at the waist and a mermaid hemline. No word yet on how exactly many different styles will follow.
