Brooklyn-based designer Mina Stone is a multi-tasking machine. When she's not making gorgeous, Greek-inspired sundresses or dip-dyeing yards of silk by hand, she's busy planning menus and shopping for unusual ingredients as a professional chef and caterer. It was abundantly appropriate, then, that the designer asked to meet at Union Square's famous farmer's market on a sunny Saturday morning.

Immediately, Mina made for a stand stocked with brightly-colored roses and fresh buds. "It all started with a lime green T-shirt, and now any shade of bright green has been an inspiration to me," says Stone. "For my current collection, and the next one."

"Because I also work as a chef, I find inspiration wandering around the Greenmarket and merging cooking and fashion into a similar creative process," says Mina. "These are green radishes, which have very beautiful gradations of green when you cut into them."

"This might be the print on one of my future fabrics," Mina says of these colorful greens. "Pink and green sprouts!"

"I am always trying to find new ways to experiment with bright color and crazy patterns," says Mina. "I think this is a great example of it actually working."

Any visit to Albertine would be incomplete without pawing through the piles of unusual accessories. "My friend Alexa and I have recently rekindled an affection for Fran Drescher and her incredible outfits in 'The Nanny,'" laughs Mina. "Hence anything big and gold, or animal-printed!"
