According to the CFDA's release, each of the living designers selected to participate in the exhibit could only select one item to represent their work, while deceased talents' work was selected by the curators of the exhibit: Patricia Mears, deputy director of The Museum at FIT, and Fred Dennis, the museum’s senior curator.
