Hunter to Launch Outerwear Collection

The 155-year-old Scottish brand, Hunter Boots, helped make the drizzle and damp a little easier to bear when they introduced dozens of rainbow-colored wellies and shearling-lined booties. Now, with a new outerwear collection set to hit stores this July, we'll be waiting around for rainy days year round.

"Outerwear was really a natural extension with the DNA of our brand," CEO Wendy Svarre told WWD. The new women's collection will consist of nine rough 'n' touble styles for men and 12 for women, including a wool peacoat, hooded fur-trim parka and classic trench with zip-out red lining. A reasonable price point (approximately $130-$160) feels like a bargain compared to the boots, which tend to fall on the pricey side.

The warm retail reception fueled Svarre's belief that the company isn't perceived merely as an outerwear collection, "but a fashion brand." Future plans for fashion-y expansion include eyewear and watches, though there are no concrete plans as yet.
