Kate Hudson's shimmering mini by Chanel Haute Couture was our favorite of the evening -- the long train is such an unconventional touch, and the silver-and-black pattern has a floral effect that helps add texture to the all-over-sequin material.

Nicole Kidman's choice of dress was her signature mix of sophisticated and slightly severe -- in thise case, strapless black Prada, but the bubble shape and embellishments running down the side gave the ensemble a refreshlingly girlish spin.

Ever the sexy siren, Penelope Cruz opted for a scarlet, body-skimming silk gown by Chanel Haute Couture. The draping linking the asymmetrical shoulder to the hip is so simple, but adds the kind of effect that transforms a red silk dress into something incredibly unique.

Marion Cotillard appeared to be Cruz's counterpoint, wearing a demure white Christian Dior gown, but again it's the details that make this dress work: The embellishments on the bodice and a crisp cut-out give this an almost Art Deco vibe, and pairing the white dress with black pearls is just so unconventional and cool.

Even Fergie managed to look incredibly sophisticated, wearing a goddess-y white gown and Chopard jewelry. We especially liked how she kept her makeup clean and simple and her hair long and unfussy.
