High-concept designer Haider Ackermann will unveil his first menswear collection June 16, a venture, he told WWD, was somewhat of a reality check.
While details of what to expect are scant, the designer described his mission to uncover "the man behind the Haider Ackermann woman," and noting the difficulties he'd faced with the new project due to his own personal position as the target consumer: "Womenswear is something I fantasize, but with menswear you are comparing it to yourself."
Ackermann has turned out thrilling collections marked by abstract ideas and beautiful draping -- with his Colombian heritage and illustrious Belgian education, the Paris-based label should certainly bring the same excellence to the masculine side of fashion.
