Fashion Week Lineup Largely Unchanged at Lincoln Center

Despite the industry buzz about fashion week's big move from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center next season, it seems the lineup of who's opting to show at the new venue remains largely unchanged from its predecessor.

With all the buzz circling the new uptown venue, we were expecting that some note-worthy talents would return to the main tents (either from off-site for from MAC & Milk's downtown expansion), but according to WWD, that isn't the case: Cynthia Rowley will return to the mainstream roster at Lincoln Center after showing offsite for several seasons, and Charlotte Ronson will also debut her spring collection in the Lincoln Center shuffle for the first time, along with Bryant Park regulars Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui, J.Mendel, Badgley Mischka, Isaac Mizrahi, Lela Rose, Dennis Basso and Ports 1961.

Many others will stay put at their offsite locations -- including Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, and Ohne Titel -- and those who have settled in at MAC & Milk in just two seasons expressed to WWD that they don't feel the need to move uptown. The main reason behind many designers' decision to leave Bryant Park, it seems, remains an issue at Lincoln Center: Price. Even IMG admits there is no financial reason to make the jump to Lincoln Center, and that the shows still cost designers up to $50,000. In all the exciting advances being made at Lincoln Center -- from barcodes on invitations to improved technology throughout the space -- the critical issue of how expensive it is for designers to show their collection appears to remain.
