Marchesa certainly made a splash at the awards show, with Lucy Liu, Kerry Washington and Jada Pinkett-Smith all opting for rosy-hued confections in a variety of silhouettes. Pinkett-Smith went perky and bright, while Liu's cotton-candy pink train had princess appeal and Washington channeled a true goddess in peach ombré draping.

The night's other controversial outfit came from Armani Prive as well, and while we always admire Cate Blanchett's sense of adventure and, most importantly chic taste, there's something about her metallic silver pantsuit that didn't photograph very well. The new haircut, however, is beyond sexy.

With the Idina Menzel/Lea Michele version of "Poker Face" from Glee running through our heads all day long, we were thrilled to behold Menzel in an elegant Carolina Herrera floral ballgown fit for a star of the stage.

Paula Abdul has been missing from our lives since her departure from American Idol, so it was nice to see her shining (and looking strong and svelte) in a gold bead-encrusted, feather-skirt Tony Ward Couture number.

As Bebe Neuwirth is to Broadway, so is the slinky black dress to a night out on the town. The theater veteran mixed the classic ingredients for a glamorous sophisticate and strutted it down the red carpet.
