Elle Will Host a Runway Show of its Own for Fashion Week

Clearly not about to let Vogue get all the glory for its forthcoming Fahion NIght's Out runway show, Elle magazine just announced plans for a fashion show of its own. The ELLE Fashion NEXT show will send the work of 22 Rhode Island School of Design students down the runway on Friday September 9.

The show itself is a competition, for which the talented bunch are eligible for a slew of impressive prizes, including a design-achievement award from Maybelline New York and a mentorship offered by Kate Spade New York. The top winner to be announced at the conclusion of the presentation will receive the ELLE & RISD Design Award and a handsome $25,000 grant, while the other finalists will each receive a $10,000 grant and a chance at the crowd-awarded ELLE People's Choice Award—voting starts on September 9 on Elle.com.

The RISD participants were handpicked by Elle editors after presenting their designs before an illustrious panel of judges such as Tommy Hilfiger, Derek Lam, Nicole Miller, Waris Ahluwalia, Marcia Patmos and Kate Spade Creative Director, Deborah Lloyd, as well as members of the magazine's editorial team including Joe Zee, Anne Slowey, Alexis Bryan Morgan and others.

And it doesn't stop there—a five-webisode documenary following the students' preparations up to the runway show at Lincoln Center will air after the presentation and winners are announced.
