Lynne Hiriak
Designer: Lynne Hiriak of Cardigan by Lynne Hiriak
nGreatest style lesson my mom ever taught me: "Matching leather accessories rocks. She always wore these Bass leather sandals and her Aigner bag, all in cordovan color."
nMy mom's signature style could be described as: "Her most definitive look was in the '70s and '80s. She was an educator so she had the schoolteacher look down pat. She owned a ton of blazers, quite a sensible look. Now, that she's retired, she's pretty much wearing whatever cardigan I give her and her collection of diamonds. So essentially cardigans and diamonds -- it's a good look."
nThe outfit I most vividly remember her wearing is: This long rose-colored bridesmaid dress for my aunt Fran's wedding. It was a good color on her and something she normally wouldn't wear."
nThis Mother's Day, we plan to: "Chat on the phone. We don't get a chance to see each other much because we're all so busy and traveling, but who knows. Maybe I will surprise her with a visit (although you can't surprise my mother. I may show up at an empty house because that lady always has plans)!
