Condé Nast Gets into the Restaurant Business

Condé Nast's newest division, Condé Nast Restaurants, will bring magazine-themed eateries to cities across Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Unfortunately, the Vogue Cafe and GQ Bar aren't planned to open in the U.S., but if you're feeling homesick for New York during your travels to Moscow (or, eventually, Kiev or Istanbul), these new establishments will give you a little taste of Condé...literally.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the publishing house plans to expand upon its restaurant licenses after experiencing success with the Vogue Cafe in Moscow (a quick peep on TripAdvisor shows high marks, but a few complaints about the pricey menu). The expansion comes as print-based companies look for creative ways to stay in the game, however this spin-off into the food industry certainly seems like a curious choice—especially since the most plausible magazine-turned-eatery, Bon Appétit doesn't look to be part of the mix.
