- Fern Mallis, the senior VP of IMG and the head of all things New York Fashion Week since its genesis 18 years ago, today announced she's stepping down from her post to start her own consulting company. The timing of the move is no coincidence: "When we were planning the move to Lincoln Center, it felt like closure, like the end of the cycle," she told WWD. Ex-Vogue director of special events Stephanie Winston Wolkoff already has the title of Fashion Week Director for this September's shows, but needless to say, the tents just won't be the same without Mallis. - A London coroner officially closed the investigation into Alexander McQueen's untimely death, concluding that the designer had a slew of drugs in his system at the time of his suicide. McQueen's psychiatrist made note of the designer's career as a "double-edged sword," that was both fulfilling but ultimately a lot of pressure. [WWD, AP]
