Models successfully seized back control over the fashion world's fall 2010 ad campaigns, edging out celebrities to represent brands like Balenciaga, Chanel, and Gucci. In the beauty sector, however, celebrities still seem to have a lot of pull.

The new faces floating around include Taylor Swift for Cover Girl (joining the ranks of Ellen Degeneres and Queen Latifah), Penélope Cruz for Lancome (following the semi-elusive Julia Robert's stint this spring) and Diane Kruger for Calvin Klein Beauty.  Neutrogena continues to rely on teen celebs to relay its fresh-faced message, most recently tapping Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove and young actress Emma Roberts for ads. And of course, who can forget James Franco's spoof video on his spokesmodel status for Gucci Pour Homme fragrance?

Of course, some brands picked models to represent their newest beauty offerings -- Estee Lauder has added its first Asian model, Chinese model Liu Wen, along with fellow model Constance Jablonski, while Chanel's muse is still model Vanessa Paradis. That said, the headlines surrounding beauty and fragrance continue to target celebrities in a way that fashion hasn't. Perhaps it's because, for beauty, it's the face that really matters, whereas in fashion it's first and foremost presentation of the clothing.
