Roberto Cavalli Aims to Go Global with Clubs, Cafes

Roberto Cavalli plans to expand a growing empire of clubs and cafes, making an animal-print splash across the Middle East, Asia and South America in the next five years.

Cavalli first opened a club in Dubai, which includes such luxurious amenities as black quartz floors, Swarovski crystal chandeliers, and special Cavalli chocolates. Now, the designer's portfolio includes branded locations in Florence and Milan. According to WWD, Cavalli has now secured financing from the Lebanese firm Pragma Group to open another five clubs and 15 cafes in cities including Beirut, Mumbia, Shanghai and Sao Paulo. Good news for fans of excess: Cavalli tells WWD that the hybrid Italian restaurant, sushi bar and nightclub in Dubai wil serve as the model for his concept going forward.

Pragma invested heavily in the designer's concept, having found "a real hunger in emerging markets for the branded lifestyle experience," according to WWD. Indeed, such findings have certainly motivated the luxury fashion trend towards China, as savvy kingpins like Cavalli and DVF focus on these eager, and expansive, sectors.
