Jones Apparel Taps Shoe Designer Brian Atwood for a New, Lower-Priced Line

Shoe guru—and a favorite amongst celebrities and Hollywood starlets like Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Victoria Beckham and Rachel ZoeBrian Atwood just inked a deal with Jones Apparel Group for a new contemporary label, B Brian Atwood. According to WWD, the new collection, scheduled to launch next fall, will feature a more urban-downtown aesthetic at prices hovering in the $200 to $500 range.

Atwood, a former model and Bally creative director who cut his teeth designing accessories for Versace before founding his namesake label in 2001, makes shoes known for their red carpet-caliber style. His glam pairings of unconventional colors and materials—like studs of metal against lilac-colored suede—as well as their towering heights, have become the designer's trademark.

His new collection, though still in its early-concept phase will be inspired by the "cool, East Village girls, who have great style," he says. Shoppers can expect a greater offering of flats and mid-heels too, however Atwood is quick to point out that the collection is nevertheless a reflection of his main line: "It will just be with a different edge, but always have the same core values as [Brian Atwood]," he told WWD.

Atwood also notes that B Brian Atwood is not a diffusion line, but rather a counterpart to his primary collection. Given that shoes from Atwood's main collection range from $525 to as much as $2,900, the new line will certainly be a more accessible luxury.
