Ann Yee: Casual Silky Separates for the Downtown Set

For all Ann Yee's androgynous looks from last season, the designer has chosen to take a decidedly more feminine turn—without ditching her easy, laidback aesthetic. Her spare collection featured fluid silk and jersey knit separates in muted shades of gray, slate-green, and lavender, punctuated by the occasional flash of fuschia or citron.

Yee is one of the many young designers playing with mixed lengths this season, and successfully so. Her wispy, mini-dresses seemed no more girly than her knee-grazing tank and one-shoulder styles, while her fuller, longer-length skirts were the perfect contrast to sexy, billowing tank tops.

Another suprise was the incorporation of chunky knitwear for spring, seen in the form of a fitted tank dress, and thickly-braided necklaces that almost looked like extensions of the model's own locks sweeping around their shoulders. An utterly different kind of "statement necklace" to the ones we've seen of late, we love it piece for its fetching, fuss-free appeal.
