Ann Romney usually favors subdued ensembles on the campaign trail like plain button-down shirts and cropped trousers. But after sporting a fashion-forward Reed Krakoff blouse on CBS in May, we decided to take a closer look at her style. Back in September, Romney wore this wild paisley-print blouse with a funky tiger's eye necklace and bright red reading glasses to an event in SC. Click to see more of her fashion choices.

Romney seems to have a penchant for red — no surprise there! — and wide, waist-cinching belts. Here, she's pictured at a campaign event in September wearing a printed red shirt dress with contrasting white panels and a white beaded necklace.

Splashy prints are also emerging as a Romney favorite. Speaking in Salt Lake City, Romney stunned in an orange wrap dress with an exaggerated white leopard print and long strands of pearls.

Romney's style sense shines most brightly in retro-inspired looks, like the floral-printed maxi skirt and tied-up cardigan she wore to Bittersweet Farm in New Harmpshire shortly after Romney announced his candidacy.

Likewise, the Audrey Hepburn-looking ensemble — a pair of cropped black trousers, low loafers, a plain turtleneck and a single strand of pearls — that Romney sported to an Iowa campaign rally this past December was one of her most memorable looks.

Occasionally, Romney pairs quirky printed cardigans like this pink knit with slim pencil skirts and gold jewelry.

Romney's most fashion-forward look to date was a $990 Reed Krakoff bird blouse she styled with a string of metallic beads and bright red nails on CBS last month.

The little red jacket continues to be a Romney go-to. Last January in Des Moines, she sported the look with a classic white button-down and silver bead choker.

Romney is already getting a jump start on fall's little tweed jacket trend, pairing this houndstooth blazer with a floral print skirt last January in Miami.

This week, Romney hit Scamman Farm in New Hampshire clad in a decidedly on-trend shirt dress with a hot pink floral motif and a matching magenta belt.
