Amar'e Stoudemire's Line with Rachel Roy Will Include Made-to-Measure Suits

Details are emerging on the basketball star Amar'e Stoudemire's as-to-be-officially-announced collaboration with designer Rachel Roy, and they're quite fashion-forward.

Page Six spoke with the president of Designers Management Agency, Marc Beckman, who apparently engineered the deal between the two talents. (Beckman, incidentally, is having a rather big couple of weeks, having just announced a deal with Hilary Swank to create a new athletic-meets-leisure clothing line.) Beckman was apparently quite forthcoming about the new project, claiming the plan of the new project was "to build on his style and swagger in an authentic and believable way."

In fashion terms, that means giving the line a slightly more suave, luxurious bent to start. According to Beckman, the initial roll-out of the line will include a men's fragrance and "made-to-measure tailored suits," (as well as the obligatory sportswear). Everything to start will be focused on men, with womenswear arriving later.

Considering Roy's proven design skills and her exemplary work on her own lower-price line for Macy's, we'd wager she'll make a well-chosen counterpart in terms of skill to match Stoudemire's enthusiasm and buzz.
