It's been over six months since the tragic suicide of Alexander McQueen on February 11, but the visionary designer's absence is one that's certain to leave a lasting void amongst the fashion community. To celebrate and pay tribute to the late designer, a memorial service will be held on September 20 at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, during the city's Fashion Week.
The legendary cathedral, site of such historic services as Winston Churchill's funeral as well as the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana (aka Lady Diana Spencer), has a capacity of 2,500, which we suspect will be filled to the gills. According to the Telegraph, the service is expected to be led by the Canon Chancellor of the Cathedral, however details over speakers and attendees are not yet known.
The timing seems especially appropriate—not only will members of the international fashion community already be in town for London Fashion Week, but the service might also be regarded as an honorary alternative to McQueen's presence at his often electrifying runway shows.
