One could hardly imagine a less bucolic setting than the dark, dingy, what’s-that-smell hallways and tunnels of the Port Authority Bus Terminal – and perhaps that’s exactly why installing a farmer’s market onsite is such a genius idea. Starting this Thursday, you’ll be able to stock up on ramps and heirloom tomatoes (yes, we are aware that neither is in season) before hopping the 5:24 to Ronkonkoma. According to Curbed:
"The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in conjunction with the Council on the Environment of NYC (CENYC), today announced the opening of a Greenmarket farmers market on Thursdays at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The indoor weekly year-round market will kick off this Thursday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the North Wing, Main Concourse, at Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street with a short speaking program."
First the Save Fashion pop-up, now this! if the Port Authority isn’t careful, people are going to start confusing it with Chelsea Market. Okay, maybe not quite. But seriously, what is that smell?
