Even if Bob Odenkirk -- the Mr. Show alum who plays the crooked, balding lawyer from Breaking Bad -- is your only reference to The Black Keys' current album cycle, missing a free show from the Nashville-by-Ohio garage rockers is ill-advised.
It's going down December 5, in celebration of the following day's release of El Camino, the band's sixth LP proper. Here's a cut:
The Black Keys quickly went from trying to sell you a crummy used car to giving concert tickets away for free! The band's Patrick Carney announced via his Twitter Wednesday the Webster show is indeed gratis, or rather that NYC tickets are "already paid for." If you're a Keys superfan, you better keep all eyes set to Internet -- just how to get those 2,500 tickets has yet to be announced. It's also streaming on MTV's indie corner of the web.
The duo of Carney and Dan Auerbach return to New York City March 12, upscaling things to Madison Square Garden. Yeah, OK. The odd dichotomy of Madison Square Garden and Webster Hall kind of points at The Black Key's odd crossover success (Rob Harvilla lays out the push-pull pretty well in today's El Camino review).
You want that car yet?
