An argument involving a bridal party and a hotel guest ended when the guest allegedly used a sword to threaten the women and slash the bride on the arm, authorities say.

Carlos Mejia faces charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and weapons counts following Saturday's altercation in Hardyston. It wasn't known Thursday if the 43-year-old New York City man has retained an attorney.

Authorities say Mejia approached the bridal party in a hotel hallway and asked for a cigarette. A verbal argument ensued and Mejia eventually returned to his room.

The bride and her bridal party soon knocked on Mejia's door and yelled to him. Authorities say he emerged with the sword and began swinging it at the women, but eventually was disarmed by several hotel guests.

Mejia had no ties to the wedding.

The bride wasn't seriously injured.
