Summerstage Lineup to Be Released on Twitter

We already know that Lykke Li and Florence and the Machine will be hitting our shady Central Park glens.

Soon, we’ll learn the rest of them when the Summerstage Festival unveils their 2011 season lineup via Twitter.

Starting April 1 at 12 p.m., the City Parks Foundation will unveil one act from this 26th Summerstage season roster each day for 20 days. The full calendar, expected to include more than 100 events across the five boroughs, will be announced on April 21.

“As more and more people utilize social networking sites to get their news and information, it’s important that the SummerStage festival keep up with these technologies,” said David Rivel, City Parks Foundation Executive Director, in an official statement. “We want to engage with our fan base in a way that is unique, immediate, and allows fans to connect with one another as well as the performers themselves.”

The Twitter announcement series will also include VIP access and prize giveaways. Summerstage Festival is a free series of events (barring their occasional benefit concerts, and the city estimates that over 6 million people have attended the events.
