Stunts: Christmas in Queens Starts This Saturday

In Manhattan, when a retail location wants a little free publicity, it gets Rei Kawakubo to design a guest collection or invites a hardcore band to put on a 12-hour show in its store. In Queens, it builds a 20-foot-tall bear made out of topiary. Meet Mr. Bemberlinx, the mascot of the stunt-happy Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale. Mr. B is about to commence his third year of delighting some of the neighborhood children and scaring the pants off the sensitive ones. About by "about to," we really mean "about to." Starting this Saturday, he'll "come out of hibernation" (per the press release) to launch a contest in which kids can vote for his favorite dance song. And why not? Christmas is only 80 days away!
