Plane makes unexpected landing due to electrical odor

A Southwest Airlines flight headed to Orlando had to make an unexpected stop at a Long Island airport.
    
Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz said a flight attendent reported an electrical smell after takeoff Sunday morning.
    
Flight 693 had left from Bradley International Airport in Connecticut at 7:21 a.m. Sunday bound for Orlando. The cockpit reported a problem shortly after. The plane landed safely at Macarthur Airport just before 8 a.m.
    
Airport spokeswoman Catherine Green said the 131 passengers and 5 crewmembers were all evacuated safely. They boarded another flight and continued to Florida shortly before 10 a.m.
    
Mainz said the plane was taken out of service and would be examined.
