Sofia Coppola Designs for Louis Vuitton

Everyone's been gabbing about Madonna's model turn for Louis Vuitton (Jezebel even questioned whether the ad was "worth the hype"). Granted, she looks like a hot-and-sexy Moulin Rouge cast-off in her fishnets and feathered skirt, but frankly we're on the fence, especially since the handbags look, ahem, less than savory). Leave it to Fashionologie to bring us back to earth, worthily reminding us that Sofia Coppola's capsule collection for the brand is about to finally launch this spring. She and her famous father already posted for an amazing father-and-daughter-on-safari-with-their-luggage-type ad for the brand, but we guess she caught the design bug. Apparently, Sofia wanted to design "the perfect bag that doesn't exist," so what does the result look like? T Magazine reveals a wonderfully slouchy, lightweight carryall—somewhere between and oversize sac and a straight-up suitcase. Coppola also designed a small envelope clutch for evening as well as some sandals to round out her little capsule collection, though you'll have to wait to see those 'til 2009.
