Marc Jacobs Rethinks His West Village Boutiques

Little Marc on Bank Street in 2007

Marc Jacobs is not immune to the effects of the recession. The designer, who in November of 2007 opened a high-end Collection boutique and Little Marc on Bank Street (right around the corner from all his Bleecker shops), has pulled his Collection merch from the West Village. Blogger The Fashion Informer has more:

The Bank Street collection store has now been turned into a Marc Jacobs men's store, and the MJ kid's store across the street will house MJ men's accessories. The kid's store is moving to the former MJ men's space on Bleecker Street, and the higher-end collection is being consolidated into the original Mercer Street space in Soho.

MJ staffers cited weak foot traffic on Bank Street as the reason behind the move. Perhaps this isn't the right time to try to build another Bleecker Street shopping mall in the West Village.
