On May 12, Maceo Parker and DJ Spinna will provide the soundtrack to the unveiling of its 33rd season of the summer series at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Music veteran Parker—who’ll kick off the summer series with “the tightest funk orchestra on earth”—played one of Celebrate Brooklyn’s most legendary shows to date: At the free show he played in summer 2006, the audience went collectively crazypants when sometime employer Prince showed up on stage unannounced.

Had Twitter existed (well, it did, but nobody was using it yet), you could have felt the earth move with the sheer force of typing.
