In an interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Jim James has called the album the “most live record we've ever done.” Ditching the high-end production process of their last work, the band returned to their native Louisville, Kentucky and set up a makeshift recording studio in a gymnasium inside a church (a throwback to their earliest records, which were recorded in a Kentucky grain silo).

To whip the excitement to an ever-more-feverish pitch, the band will release one free download a week starting this week. The first five downloads will be live songs taken from each night of their storied week at Terminal 5 in October of 2010. (Below is a clip taken from their run, with MMJ covering Prince’s “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man.”) On the sixth week, the band will offer up a song off the new album.
