Port Authority Gets in on the Pop-up Fun with Areaware

In what we would consider the unlikeliest site of a pop-up shop, New York's charmingly seedy Port Authority, sophisticated local design center Areaware sets up camp September 26.  Call it a conceptual timeline of our personal progression in New York (arrive on a bus and recoil in horror and hopefully, someday, land in a painfully hip downtown loft stocked with avant-garde design pieces), but the latest temporary space to sprout on city streets marks an interesting collabo of high and low.

This may be a world in which Anna Wintour has officially visited a Macy's - in Queens, no less - but we're pretty sure Montauk weekenders and upstate country home owners won't go through Port Authority.  That said, perhaps they will if there's an outpost to purchase Strida folding bikes and KOR One watter bottles that will be available, as the Times reports

Kidding aside, Areaware's 'design to go' curation of locally sourced designs looks to be a thrilling one and we commend the effort to promote all venues in the city.  After all, truly great design shines regardless of setting.
