Old Homestead Halving, Losing Leased Space

Meatpacking District: Old Homestead, MePa's staple steakhouse (est. 1868), is about to get a lot smaller. The lease at the space they rent at 52-54 9th Avenue—the southern half of the restauant—will soon be up, the landlord is raising the rent, and they will move out within the next four months. This lost space holds their largest dining room and a swath of outdoor seating.

However, reps at the restaurant are focusing on the positive: their largest chunk of restaurant space—a bar and two levels of dining—is contained withing the building at 56 9th Avenue, which they own. This is of course the building with the signature cow and neon sign on the facade, so consider those safe. The owners plan on doing some light renovation on their existing space to prepare for the change.
