Governor Paterson’s overwhelmingly booed budget deal may not allow grocery stores to sell wine or impose a non-diet-soda tax, but wine is not spared. An excise tax on producers who sell their wine here will rise 58 percent, to 51 cents a gallon. A small portion of this cost will likely trickle down to the price of bottles. [NYDN]
