Water Taxi Beach Coming to Pier 17 and We Think We're Okay With It

After Down by the Hipster heard rumors last week that the second new location of Water Taxi Beach would be coming to the South Street Seaport, Eater notices on a community-board agenda that, indeed, the booze beach is applying for a liquor license at Pier 17. We’d turn our nose up at the location, given the tourist factor, but beggars can’t be choosers. Plus, the beer garden at Speigeltent somehow managed not to be overrun by fanny-packers sporting spray-on tats — hopefully that’ll be the case here, too. And dude — it’s a beach. Downtown. Oh hell, we’ll admit it — after a few to-go piña coladas, we never much minded South Street Seaport anyway. Rock.
