Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who has been admirably quick on his feet in dealing with the recession, has announced on his blog that he’ll replace Vong’s à la cart items with the restaurant’s original menu (the current prix fixes will still be offered): “Just before the holidays, I was craving Vong’s original dishes — I mean the ones from back when the restaurant first opened, in 1992 — so I went to the restaurant and asked the kitchen to prepare them for me. I was overwhelmed by how new and fresh and delicious they tasted!” And we’re overwhelmed by how relatively cheap they are, since they’ll be served at 1992 prices! The new menu follows.
