Tyson Beckford's Lenten sacrifice doesn't sound like a very difficult one for him to make. “I gave up texting,” he told us at Friday night's launch of Carrera's vintage-sunglasses line. “I don't like to do that. I hate it.” Not much to give up then, is it? So what happens when someone texts, does he ignore it? “I read it, and then I don't text it back, I call them back,” he said.
One vice Beckford isn't giving up anytime soon: smiling for swag. Beckford, who says he owns “well over 50” pairs of sunglasses, recently broke his Carreras. Luckily, all he had to do to score a new pair was to pose with them on a red carpet. “I wanted to get a new pair, but I don't have to pay a hundred dollars,” he said. “I got these for free. So, you know, I'm cool with that. This promotion, you know, it's probably priceless what we do, promotion-wise, but, I mean, it's good that they brought Carreras back. One free pair of sunglasses is cool.”
