Thompson LES's Members-Only Rooftop Soft-Opens

In case A60 wasn’t annoyingly exclusive enough for you, we’re told that on Friday, the Thompson LES will soft-open its seventh-floor members-only bar, Above Allen. The space is covered at the moment, but thanks to a retractable roof it will be open-air come summer. As with sister boîte A60, membership cards will be issued (probably in March), but the capacity is a little bigger at 150. Design is minimal, with upholstery from Stephen Sprouse. Drinks and small plates are care of Shang (which, incidentally, just launched a $35 “Starving Artists” prix fixe that’s available every night at the bar lounge, and also in the dining room all night on Mondays and Tuesdays or from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Saturday). So far, it doesn’t seem like Above Allen will have a hot tub à la Hotel on Rivington’s penthouse, but if they know what’s good for them, they’ll install one.
