The Obamas are putting their family chef, Sam Kass, to work with current White House chef Cristeta Comerford. Kass put in time at Eric Ripert’s Avec in Chicago before founding a private chef service that prides itself on serving “clean, healthy food” sourced “mainly from local farms.” Mmmmkay, Alice Waters? Also! John Dickerson at Slate is psyched that Obama is holding cocktail parties at the White House, since it’s a departure from Bush’s teetotaling and a return to a rich tradition of “presidential drunks” such as LBJ, who was apparently a fan of the go-cup.
