L'artusi Disappoints Platt; Defonte Moves to Manhattan

L’artusi is “the newest trendy addition to the overcrowded genre” of bar dining, writes Adam Platt in this week’s magazine. While he likes some of the pastas there, after that course, “dinner at L’artusi grinds slowly off a cliff.” Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld bring the good news that Red Hook sandwich shop Defonte is moving to Manhattan: “To put things in culinary perspective, this is big, like Di Fara or Luger crossing the bridge.” Finally, daikon radishes are in season now, and Michael “Bao” Huynh shares his recipe for daikon rice cakes.
