Judge Rules That Starbucks Illegally Busted Union

A National Labor Relations Board judge has ruled that Starbucks illegally fired three Manhattan baristas for attempting to organize a union, and has ordered that the trio be given back their jobs. According to the Times, Judge Mindy E. Landow ruled that Starbucks managers prevented employees from wearing more than one pro-union button and from posting union items on a company bulletin board. Starbucks still insists the employees were fired for insubordination and poor work performance and vows to appeal the verdict. Incidentally, one of the baristas, Daniel Gross, is also the man leading the charge against Wild Edibles — he recently wrote in to tell us that Frank and its sister restaurants had dropped the seafood distributor.
