Delicatessen Reveals New Menu Shaped by Franklin Becker (La Frieda Sliders? Obvi!)

The butt of so many jokes, Delicatessen, has sent out an unusually repentant press release — “Delicatessen Steps Back, Re-evaluates, and Makes Changes” — announcing that it hired a team of consultants, including Lotus honcho David Rabin and none other than Franklin Becker, to put their Humpty Dumpty back together again. The Reuben fritters, we are assured, are gone, though in one last act of bravado, the release can’t help but refer to the grease bombs as “cult favorite[s].” More about Becker’s and new chef Michael Ferraro’s menu after the jump.

As for the rest of the menu, Halibut Carpaccio is off and Grilled Mahi Tacos are on in addition to six other new appetizers such as Carbonara Croquettas, “Sticky” Ribs and Giorgio’s Meatballs. Sliders and the signature Burger are both made from a blend of chuck and short rib beef, created especially for Delicatessen by Pat La Freida Meats. Six additional entrees will be offered including Prince Edward Island Mussels, Pan Roasted Chicken and Grandma’s Meatloaf. House-baked cookies and milk, a hefty slice of “Birthday Cake” and a traditional New York Cheese Cake round out the menu.

We’ll have the full shebang over to you shortly. In the meantime, know that items are available at a 10 percent discount until February 13.
