Carla Bruni convinced her husband, French president Nicolas Sarkozy, to stop wearing his expensive watches, helping him shed his "bling-bling" image. But the title is coming back as French people stew while they watch the First Couple vacation in Mexico in a $4,800-a-night private luxury villa. Ironically, Sarko was in town to discuss the global economic crisis with Mexican president Felipe Calderón. Unemployment rates are soaring abroad as well as here.
