Carine Roitfeld Denies the Vogue Rumors, Again

More Carine Roitfeld on CNN today. The network offered up this morsel on how much she doesn't want to be editor of American Vogue. Taken, no doubt from the upcoming profile to air Wednesday morning, it's an emphatic declaration of how much she loves Vogue Paris. And really, can you blame her?

"I'm very happy at French Vogue to be able to do everything — almost everything — I want in the magazine," she said. "It would be too political at American Vogue for me. And I'm not sure I'm talking enough good English to work there."

Aww, adorbs! The article points out what we've heard before: French Vogue's circulation is a much smaller, highly affluent group that enjoys edgy editorials — perfect for Carine. But one thing we haven't seen before, spelled out quite so: They call Anna old. They said it, not us.

Wintour has yet to announce any plans to retire but her advancing age — she's 60 this year — has stoked speculation that after more than 20 years in the role it might be time to leave.

We hope the writer properly begged for mercy before she was ... dealt with.
