The new EMS on Broadway and Spring is now officially open for business, and we wonder if Paragon is already shaking in its ankle-supporting hiking boots. The store is three times the size of the old location on Mercer and surprisingly industrial-looking for a place that sells camping gear. While much of the 18,097 square feet inside is taken up with supplies for snowshowing, kayaking, and other activities that can't be done in Manhattan, there's also a big bike shop carrying commuter bicycles by Jamis and Masi—a nice nod to outdoorsy city living.
