Now (Almost) Open: Loris Diran Hits the Bowery

The upper Bowery has a new name. It shall be known henceforth as the "Bowery District", populated by boutiques, fancy restaurants and bars. We wish we could take credit for the name, but we can't: it appears in a press release for new Bowery District boutique Loris Diran, opening to the public at 3 East 1st Street on Friday.

The store, briefly mentioned on this blog in October, will house the New York designer's men's and women's bespoke collections. For men, that means shirting (in sizes "standard slim" and "super slim") and handmade cashmere and wool suits; for the ladies, pretty bubble skirts, flouncy halters, dresses and suiting. Pricing for men's suits ranges from $2,300 to $2,800; women's separates cost about $500, with dresses creeping up to $1,200. When we dropped by the press preview this morning, Vogue editor Meredith Melling Burke was also there perusing the racks. That's the Bowery District for you.
